What is the TEAS?

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is an entrance exam for students applying to nursing and allied health programs around the country.

How do I register for the TEAS?

The TEAS is administered by the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI), and you can register for the test on their website.

Is the ATI TEAS hard?

How difficult you find the TEAS test to be will depend on how prepared you are. The questions on the test will cover material that was taught in your high school classes. However, you should still plan to study. The more you practice, the easier the exam will be.

How many questions are on the TEAS?

There are 170 multiple-choice questions on the TEAS. 150 questions are scored, and 20 questions are unscored. (These unscored questions are included by the test makers to gauge their suitability for use on future tests.)

How long is the TEAS?

You will have three hours and thirty minutes to take the exam.

What’s on the TEAS?

The TEAS includes four subtests: Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English and Language Usage. The breakdown of the 150 scored questions is shown in the table below.

Where can I take the TEAS?

You can take the test online, at a university campus, or at a PSI testing center. Before you register, check with the institutions where you plan to apply—they may ask for scores from certain locations.

How is the TEAS scored?

On your TEAS score report, you will see your percentile rank for each content and sub-content area. A percentile rank tells you how you performed compared to other test takers. For example, if you score in the 78th percentile, that means you did better than 78 percent of all test takers.

When will I receive my TEAS score?

When you receive your score will depend on where you took the test. If you take it online or on a campus, you will likely be able to see your score immediately. However, if you test at a PSI center or you take a paper-and-pencil version of the test, you will see your results in your ATI account within twenty-four to seventy-two hours.

What’s a good score on the TEAS?

There is no “good” or “bad” score on the TEAS. Schools consider TEAS test scores a part of a comprehensive application process. Each school will have their own requirements for TEAS scores, so check with the schools where you plan to apply.
